How does a charter flight differ from a regular published flight?

Typically, charter airlines don’t have the extensive route network that scheduled airlines have. They focus mostly on popular destinations domestically, in Europe, the Caribbean, and some destinations in the USA, such as Florida. Some charter airlines operate year round and others only at busy times of the year like Christmas and summer. Many charter companies operate with fewer planes than a scheduled airline.
